Mike Donahue is the creator of this fictionalized account of Mouse, a historical figure in Southern Paiute lore, and
who actually lived in the area in the 1800s.
A retired journalist, Donahue has written about the West and its inhabitants for more thirty years. He earned a BS
in journalism from Utah State University and taught journalism at Utah State and Oklahoma State University. He has
received many awards for his work, including the national William Blakeslee award for outstanding scientific
reporting from the American Heart Association.
Born in Utah, Donahue and his wife Linda own and operate a horse farm in Overton about twenty miles from the real
Mouse's Tank and the Valley of Fire.
